Abstract
Measurement of central venous pressure in clinical medicine has been evaluated and proved to be one of the most reliable test can be used for states of circulatory system.
Normal central venous pressure usually maintained by three major factors such as adequate circulating blood volume, peripheral vascular tonus, and a good pumping action of the heart.
Farethermore importance lies, that the changes of central venous pressure is not only effected by a single factor but correlative relationship of these three major factors concerned.
We have used measurement of central venous pressure in 40 cases of open heart surgery and cases who is in shock or impanding shock because of other reasons in last two years at Department of Surgery, Yonsei University, Medical center.
This proved to be a simple and reliable test for calculating volume of fluid therapy and states of cardio-circulatory system in cases of severly ill.
